报告题目: New Contributions to Multiview 3D Computer Vision Reconstruction:  Matrix Factorization-based method revisited

内容:In this talk, after giving a brief introduction to recent research activities in computer vision at ANU,  I will focus on presenting two pieces of our latest work on Matrix Factorization method for multiview 3D reconstruction (aka. Structure from Motion).     The first one is about a non-iterative algorithm for  multi-view projective factorization under perspective camera model,  which contrasts with the well-known and widely-adopted iterative factorization algorithm.    In the second one, I will present a simple solution to Non-rigid and deformable shape factorization.   Contrary to  a common belief which believes that the NRSFM problem is inherently "illposed" or "underconstrained" and thus very difficult to solve,    I will show however this is not the case,  and the problem itself is "well-constrained" and can be solved very easily, even in closed-form.     Both of the above work draw inspirations from recent progress in low-rank matrix approximation, and is related to compressive sensing. 
报告人简历:

Dr Hongdong Li is currently a Fellow with the Research School of Information Science at ANU ( the Australian National University).    Previously he served various academic positions with universities and research institutes, which include as a Senior Research Scientist at NICTA (National  ICT Australia), Senior Lecturer of ANU,   Research Fellow of RSISE, and Lecturer and Associate Professor of Zhejiang University.   He  graduated with PhD Degree  from Zhejiang University in Electronic Engineering in 2000, and taught at the same university before moved Australia after 2002.   His main research interests include 3D computer vision,  multi-view geometry,  human-computer interaction, mathematical optimization and its applications to vision, and bionic eye research.  He has been serving regularly on the Programme Committees for CVPR, ICCV, ECCV etc. premier vision conferences,  and as Reviewer and Associate Editor for a number of computer vision journals.
